Have you been in a hospital or doctors office and noticed when a nurse might be “burned out”? He/She just doesn’t care about you as a human – in and out – that’s what matters.
Real Estate Agents have the same problem. Not only being stuck in a rut, but also with burn out.
Some agents have been practicing for a while and they are just plain tired of it. Sorry to say – it shows! Comments are overheard at the water cooler, “ugh. I have six showings tomorrow.” “Why do I have to let the appraiser in the house” “Darn paperwork is getting ridiculous.”
If you are not passionate about what you do as a real estate agent, find something else to do. You owe it to yourself. You owe it to your clients. Maybe you just need some time away. Whatever it is – figure it out. Don’t let your burned out attitude rub off on others.

I agree with you 23422% Kim. This is not the business to have if you dont love it inside and out!! when you're not passionate its all over you no matter how much you try to act different.
It is a hard job. If you have don't love it, you will obviously be burned out quickly by it. This is one of the reasons we are highly compensated when we sell something in this business.
The good news is that there are so many ways to make money in real estate that you can focus in other areas to mix things up.
I had an eye opener two days ago. I could not shake the bad mood I was in. I had an appt to show homes and I was dreading it. When the clients pulled up to the home, the husband smiled and waved. Can you believe it, thats all it took for me to get out of my mood. We submitted an offer on one of the homes. So it worked out great!
Good post Kim! I like the part where you say that "if you are not passionate with what you do find something else" you are so right everything you do in life you have to do it right otherwise dont do it.

Kim, maybe instead of getting out of the business they should take a much needed break! As Realtors, we begin to get sucked into a 24/7/365 syndrome. I know I do. I want to look forward to each and every client! And, day! I feel burned out once in a while and it just takes an attitude adjustment and a little breathing room to get through it.
I hope all is well with you and you're having a great time!

I've seen it happening too! I agree.. no life and the sparkle in the eye.
Kimberly, Right on! People can tell when you are passionate as well.
Jan, You make a great point that there are many different facets to Real Estate, maybe you just need to change avenues.
Angelia, (Nice name!) There are definitely times where you just need some deep breaths! Those aren't burn out times, those are "need refreshed time" :)
Jean, I was so happy to discover my passion - and it was in Real Estate - a few years ago.
Deb, Absolutely! Like I said, sometimes you just need some time away :) We are having a blast. It would be fun to meet you one of these days!
I agree with you 110%. It rubs off on others. One of the main reasons I don't go into the office. I hated the fact they all complained about one thing or another. Especially when you have a new rookie in the office. Not the way to start!!
Kim, well said! Negativity does have a way of bringing the best of us down. This is a great business and you get out of it what you put into it.
